Mrs Platt, Customer

My husband John has used the Independent life Solutions (ILS)
tracker for nearly a year . He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and, as is often the case with this illness, he has a tendency to wander. The tracker is a great comfort for me because I can  always locate him and for him , it allows a measure of independence.

This device is supported by a dedicated group of technicians who respond immediately to any phone call. They attend any request  promptly with courtesy ,kindness and great patience. I have  telephoned for advice or with a problem, even when I have caused the malfunction ,( eg. breaking the charger), and they have come  to the house quickly to restore it to working order.

The whole service is wonderful and we are very grateful to be able to have access to the help and knowledge provided by ILS.

“Having elderly parents, one of whom is partially sighted and the other just having suffered a minor stroke I was very anxious leaving them on their own at home. I contacted Independent Life Solutions to ask their advice on what could be provided for them.

They advised me about a unit that could be used without going through a control room. They programmed our phone numbers into it and posted it out to me without delay. We were able to follow the instructions to fit it the following day and that was all there was to it.

My parents know that with a press of a button they can speak to me and I have the peace of mind that they can contact me at any time. Everyone we spoke to at ILS was experienced in dealing with the equipment and very helpful too.

I would strongly recommend this company to anyone who needs advice and/or equipment to be provided for a vulnerable person.”

Stef Kay, Assistive Technology Project Manager, Macintyre

“Paul was professional and fun to work with, he was extremely personable with the people we support and he enjoyed chatting on a familiar level with them. He gave us some good solutions to overcome the problems we encountered and was very helpful and accommodating.”

Regional Manager Future Directions

For several years, we have continued to develop an excellent relationship with Independent Life Solutions. They have always been able to provide very bespoke assessments and creative solutions in assistive technology that have greatly benefitted the people we support in developing their independence and gaining increased control of their lives

ILS have always offered a prompt and reliable service to the social care assessors. They offer advice on which items of assistive technology would benefit the customer to enable them to continue to remain independent in their own homes and may offer suggestions the social care assessors may not have thought about.

I have found ILS very supportive and professional. Joint visit with Paul for medication dispenser, he was very patient, person centre and listening to Citizen. Response to referral is fast. I referred to a citizen family who is confused about a fall detector, she rang me back with testimony of how supportive the team are and she understands more about fall detector after their discussion. The services are wonderful and I am grateful to be to access that services provided by ILS.

ILS have proven to be a significant asset to Adult Social Care; their assistive technology solutions have helped to improve the way in which we keep people safe within their own homes, allowing us to manage risk, while also supporting individuals to retain their independence. Their approach is holistic, person-centered and flexible – they are always willing to explore different ideas and options to ensure the support being provided is tailored to the citizen’s individual needs. As a professional, I have found ILS to be extremely helpful, approachable and consistent in their service provision and would like to thank them for their continued hard work and dedication to supporting those who access our services.

Peter Simcock

Senior Lecturer in Social Work (Adults), Staffordshire University

“As leader for a community care module on a BA (Hons) Social Work degree, I was keen to include a session on ‘telecare and assistive technology’, a developing aspect of social care for adults. Paul Grimsley of Independent Life Solutions has been excellent in delivering this session to social work students – his up to date knowledge and case work experience results in teaching sessions which are very well received by students, who are encouraged to consider the range assistive technology in meeting the needs of all adult service-users.”

Paul Lord

Director of Operations, Marle House

We have always found ILS to be professional, creative but more importantly supportive not only to the people who use our services but the company overall. Their approach is person centric; always listening to the customer.

I work for the community assessment Team in NMGH and recently made a referral for an assistive technology medication pack. The service was courteous and amicable to myself and the citizen receiving the service. Response time was the same day and thorough and efficient. Also, follow up visits carried out by ILS. The service put in place prevented the need for a care package being put in place and maintained the citizen’s independence in her own home and saved a considerable annual expense to the ASC budget.

In my Social Work practice I find the service provided by the ILS team to be invaluable in helping vulnerable adults to remain as safe and independent for as long as possible. ILS have always been ready to come out on short notice to support me in the assessment of a person’s needs and at times this ability to move quickly has prevented and delayed admission to hospital and to permanent 24-hour care. The workers are affable and knowledgeable about their service, they provide sound advice and ongoing support to us as Social Workers and to the individuals and their families that need that extra support.

Area Manager Creative Support

We have always found ILS very supportive and quick in response. ILS never wastes time; the company has a team of dedicated technicians and more importantly they work as a team to meet the service user’s needs. When ILS came to fit a pendant alarm, it was very easy for every staff to respond quickly to the service user’s needs. We called ILS again to fit a door and bed sensor, their prices are affordable and above all, their customer care is excellent. ILS does not waste time, they have answers to all questions and solutions to all problems. Their dedicated teamwork put the service users “first” and not money. ILS always follow up to know whether the service user is happy with the services they provide. It’s a team of friendly people who respect everyone they talk to – be it a member of staff, a service user or among themselves. Very kind and dedicated team. I myself as the Site Manager wish to congratulate ILS for their tireless efforts to meet the service user’s needs.

J.J

Senior Clinical Manager

I have always found Paul and Frank very responsive to an urgent request for assistive technology. Both are inventive to assistive technology solutions whilst listening closely to service need. When we have had issues/queries with the assistive technology both are quick to respond and visit the site to suggest solutions. When in the network houses Paul and Frank are respectful of the tenant’s needs and treat them with dignity. When the assistive technology has been installed it is used to aid and enhance support packages to citizens with learning disabilities.

Katie Keeny

Social Worker Young on-set dementia team

I have always found ILS to be a reliable, professional and practical service with friendly staff who have been able to use their skills and knowledge of assistive technology to keep vulnerable people living at home safely. I have used ILS for over 3 years to aid younger people with Dementia to live at home as a least restrictive approach to maintain their independence and dignity. Their rapid response to requests and detailed assessments have enabled me to ensure that people’s needs are met but moreover, that the family feel confident that their family member are safe. Staff at ILS are always accessible which is reassuring for me. Their overall service is fantastic and I would recommend them as a reliable and trustworthy assistive technology company for people who are vulnerable.
